DuraSeal Wood Patch

This is the filler we reach for when gaps are too big for putty but still need to stain and finish like real wood.

DuraSeal Wood Patch is a stainable, waterborne wood filler designed for repairing larger gaps, voids, and damaged areas in hardwood floors. Its thicker body allows it to stay in place without slumping, while maintaining slight flexibility once dry to reduce cracking compared to brittle fillers.

Unlike lightweight spackles, Wood Patch accepts stain and finish in a way that closely mimics real wood, making it a reliable choice when repairs will remain visible after coating.

Available in quarts and gallons, with multiple color options to match common wood species and stain tones.

Same-day shipping • Freeze protection included • Local pickup available in Saint Paul, MN

Why contractors use Wood Patch

  • Takes stain and finish similar to real wood

  • Thicker consistency than Duraseal Trowel filler, ideal for larger gaps and repairs

  • Maintains some flexibility after drying

  • Waterborne and easy to work with

  • Available in multiple colors for better blending

Best used for

  • Larger gaps and voids in hardwood floors

  • Repairs that will be stained and finished

  • Jobs where brittle fillers tend to fail

Dustin’s Notes

This is what I use when a repair is too big for soft putty but still needs to behave under stain. It’s thicker, stays put, and doesn’t crumble the way some fillers do. Always sample your stain — it takes color well, but every filler does it a little differently.
