Salvage Flooring – Reclaimed Hardwood for Matching & Restoration
Salvage Flooring
Reclaimed Hardwood for Matching, Patching, and Historic Additions
When you’re working on an old house, new flooring rarely blends.
Species may match. Width may match.
But age, grain structure, and tone won’t.
Reclaimed flooring preserves the personality of the home — so your patch doesn’t look like a remodel from another era.
Ground Floor Supply specializes in reclaimed hardwood primarily for patching, additions, and restoration work in historic homes throughout Saint Paul and the surrounding area.

Built for Old Houses
Salvage is not decorative novelty here.
It’s practical necessity.
We focus heavily on historically common dimensions:
• 1.5" Maple (consistently available)
• 2.25" Maple
• 1.5" Red Oak
• 2.25" Red Oak
• 1.5" & 2.25" White Oak (moves quickly)
• Birch (hit or miss)
• 3.25" Vertical Grain Fir (rare, fast seller)
If your home was built before the 1970s, chances are we have something that will blend correctly.
Matching old floors requires correct species, correct width, correct thickness — and correct age.
New wood cannot replicate forest-grown density and decades of oxidation.
Inventory Depth
We typically maintain:
• 5–20 bundles per common size/species
• 100+ total bundles on hand at any time
Bundles range from 2–30 square feet depending on board length.
Material is sold by the bundle.
This structure works well for:
• Radiator removals
• Wall removals
• Hallway patches
• Doorway transitions
• Small additions
For full-room installations, inventory fluctuates. Contact us to confirm quantities.
Our Standard
Every bundle is:
• Fully denailed
• Bundled and stored in climate-controlled space
• Moisture tested
• Culled for severe damage
• Offered only if substantial wear layer remains
We do not sell material that is near the end of its sanding life.
Reclaimed flooring is imperfect by nature — but it should still be structurally reliable.
What to Expect
Reclaimed flooring requires:
• Slower installation
• Board-by-board inspection
• Occasional trimming or correction
• Realistic sanding expectations
Old wood still moves with humidity changes.
Old wood still requires proper acclimation.
We are transparent about condition and expectations because unrealistic assumptions create expensive mistakes.

Why Salvage Matters
Old houses develop personality over time.
Grain tightens. Color deepens. Wear patterns tell a story.
Introducing brand-new material into a 120-year-old home often breaks that continuity. Salvage preserves it.
There is also an environmental advantage: reclaiming existing hardwood keeps usable material in circulation and reduces demand for newly milled lumber.
But most importantly — it keeps the house feeling like itself.
Local Focus
At this time, reclaimed flooring is primarily available for local pickup in Saint Paul.
Shipping reclaimed bundles is costly, time-consuming, and introduces risk of mismatch or freight damage. We prioritize accuracy and in-person inspection whenever possible.
