Description
Berger-Seidle Ceramic Star – Ceramic-Reinforced 2K Waterborne Finish
This is the finish we reach for when durability, chemical resistance, and long-term wear actually matter — not just how it looks on day one.
Same-day shipping • Freeze protection included • Local pickup in Saint Paul, MN
What It Solves
-
Ceramic-reinforced, two-component waterborne finish engineered for exceptional abrasion and scratch resistance
-
Designed for high-traffic residential and commercial floors where standard 1K finishes fail prematurely
-
Crystal clear and non-ambering, preserving natural wood color long-term
-
Excellent flow and leveling, minimizing lap marks and uneven sheen
-
Fast return to service compared to older, high-build commercial systems
Common Problems This Solves
-
Premature wear in traffic lanes and entry areas
-
Chemical damage from cleaners, spills, and pets
-
Sheen inconsistency common to waterborne finishes
-
Floors requiring durability without ambering
-
Systems failing because the wear layer was the weak link

System Context (Critical)
Ceramic Star is most commonly used over AquaSeal ExoBloc when floors present contamination risk, movement, or unknown history.
-
ExoBloc isolates the problem
-
Ceramic Star provides the wear surface
Together, they form a complete system, not a cosmetic fix.

Application Notes
-
Mix ratio: 10:1 (finish : hardener)
-
Pot life: ~2 hours once mixed
-
Coverage: ~350–550 sq ft per gallon per coat
-
Typical system: sealer + 2 coats
-
3 coats for heavy-use environments
-
-
Light traffic: ~12 hours
-
Rugs & first cleaning: after 7 days
Important Limits
Ceramic Star is not a problem-solver on its own.
It does not block deep contamination, urine saturation, or structural movement without the correct sealer beneath it. When underlying issues are ignored, even the best finish will fail.

Dustin’s Notes
Ceramic Star is our go-to when clients want maximum durability without the plastic look or long shutdown times of older commercial finishes. Where people get into trouble is trying to use it as a fix for contamination—that’s not its job. Pair it with the right sealer, keep your coats consistent, and it outperforms most systems we see in the field.

How many coats should I apply?
Most systems use one sealer coat followed by two Ceramic Star coats. Three total coats is typical.
Do I need to screen between coats?
Not always, but light screening improves adhesion and final smoothness.
How fast can furniture go back?
Light traffic in ~12 hours. Wait 7 days before rugs or floor-care products.
Can this be sprayed?
It’s designed for roller or T-bar application. Spraying has been done, but it’s not the intended method.
